pretending to be a pg&e meter reader. >> will: one victim lives near middle school. her dog was barking at a man in the backyard. the man said he was the meter reader. then he took off. she called pg&e and they said that nobody was supposed to be there. the other time it happened a man came home and saw a man in the backyard where in the pg&e shared. she approached the person who took off without saying anything. the man is described as 5 ft. 10 in. to 6 ft. tall. dark skin with orange shirt. he left in a black sedan. the fear is he is scoping out the neighborhood to possibly burglarize that. >> darya: a widow arranging a

memorial service for her deceased husband is without her ashes. a thief stole the backpack containing the remains on saturday. the 71 year-old woman had left the backpack for five minutes what she was planning the service. she turned around it was gone. they're not sure the thief knew what was in the backpack. >> darya: jerry brown needs to republicans on his side to address the california deficit. he wants a special election in june which would take three months to organize. in order to do that, he needs to organize that now. it would ask voters to extend tax cut hikes that are set to expire june 30th. without them bronzes the deep cuts that make up the other half will have

votes for gov. brown's budget plan. it would address the state's 26 and a half billion dollar deficit, jonathan blum tells us why governor brown is trying to wrap things up by thursday. >> reporter: he wants a special election in june, to do that he needs a compromise right now. the election when asked voters to extend temporary tax hikes that would otherwise expire june 30th. those taxes make up half of brown's plan to raise the deficit. it would take three months to organize that special election, so he has only days to convince four of republican lawmakers to vote for it. they have ask for pension reform, looser regulation for business, changes to the tax code without that they will not allow a special election. brown will not give up on the compromise he thinks it will just take a few more days. >> darya: sheriffs association

says it is imperative, that the lawmakers and the governor come to an agreement. they say without a budget agreement local public said it will be crippled. they say a lack of the budget would lack the funds for police, probation officers. >> mark: the city of oakland deal in with its own deficit. the council voted on measures developed the budget. the first bout was a general tax increase it was not improved.approved. al tax was approved. that the $80 five-year tax. voters will decide if they want that tax during a special election june 7th. an army soldier from san jose was killed in afghanistan. family and friends of 31-year- old staff sgt. mark c. wells are mourning the loss of the soldier who died saturday while serving in afghanistan. the department of defense says staff sgt. wells was killed when

told the brother has been shot, the shooter. we don't know the condition of him at this moment. we did see an ambulance pulling up about 20 minutes ago trying to get closer to the scene. right now you can see the swat team is there with their guns drawn. this is an impact active investigation. even though we are two blocks away, we are safe distance, the police have said we will be safe, potentially of all it could fly this fall or, it is a dangerous situation to minutes ago that the got the park cleared out, and now we see people coming back down to see what is going on. trying to see if the suspect will come out alive, trying to see if there will be a resolution. again please do not want people to come out on the street trying to

find out what's going on. they're asking them to go inside, it is for your safety in this situation. >> james: again we are listening live up to our reporter giving an update to their newsroom. as we watch this again let me recap, to u.s. marshals and the st. louis police officer were serving award on a suspect inside of that home. the suspect was facing drug charges when they arrived at about 6:20 a.m., the suspect open, and opened fire striking to marshall's, they have been taken to hospital and a police officer who was taken to a second hospital. there conditions still unknown. you just saw the swat team on the front steps drop their barriers. we don't off that's an indication that cleared the house or if they have the suspect in custody.
